Lingayen, Pangasinan — The Southeast Asian Journal of Science and Technology (SAJST), a respected academic publication with roots from the designated faculty of Pangasinan State University–Lingayen Campus, officially begins a new chapter in its history. Starting August 2025 and officially on January 2026, SAJST is now operated by the Philippine Technical Institute, Inc. – Research and Publication Office, marking a significant transition in its institutional management while preserving its mission and editorial standards.

SAJST was originally conceptualized during the leadership of Dr. Priscila Agsalud as Campus Executive Director of PSU Lingayen Campus, with the initiative spearheaded by Prof. Francis Albert Argente, then Executive Director for Research. Even before its formal digital launch in 2018, the journal was envisioned as a platform to showcase scholarly excellence and to strengthen the culture of research publication within the academic community.

Under the pioneering leadership of Dr. Randy Joy M. Ventayen as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief and Dr. Potenciano Conte as Managing Editor, SAJST established a strong editorial foundation. Initially serving researchers from PSU Lingayen Campus, the journal gradually expanded its reach to contributors nationwide and eventually to scholars across Southeast Asia and other parts of the world. This strategic expansion transformed SAJST from a campus-centered journal into an international research platform.

A major milestone came in 2018 when operational sponsorship was provided by the Educators and Researchers Association in the Asian region, later known as Asian Journals Publishing (AJP). This partnership allowed SAJST to operate without collecting article processing fees from authors until 2023, significantly supporting inclusive research dissemination. The management was eventually transitioned to AJP, which formally recognized the editorial board as the governing body of the journal.

Now, with its official transfer of operations to the Philippine Technical Institute, Inc., SAJST enters a new phase of institutional stewardship. The transition ensures continued professional management under the Research and Publication Office while maintaining editorial continuity, peer-review integrity, and its commitment to academic excellence.Today, SAJST stands as one of the leading scholarly journals in the Ilocos region and now indexed in EBSCO starting 2026, contributing to global academic discourse across disciplines. Its journey—from a university-based initiative to an internationally recognized publication—reflects the growth, resilience, and forward momentum of the research community it represents.
